I have presented papers and participated in panel discussions at many academic and other conferences and events, including at the Society for Ethnomusicology, the Society for Caribbean Linguistics, and the Harvard African Language Program's "African Languages in the Disciplines."
My writing, editing, and translation work has been published in Bittersweet Notes: Chocolate, Culture, and the Politics of Food, The Root, Transition Magazine, Sodade Magazine, and The Savannah Review (forthcoming).
I have taught extensively at the college level, primarily at Harvard University's Department of African and African American Studies; Department of Music; Committee on Degrees in Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality; Program in General Education; and Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning.
I have experience in ethnographic, archival, and digital humanities research from over a decade of fieldwork in West Africa (Cape Verde, Senegal), the United States (New England area and several urban areas), and Europe (Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal). Throughout this time, I have worked on social engagement projects such as educational event development, community outreach, translation, and interpreting. In addition, I have held a number of research, service, and administrative positions in higher education.
I have an extensive musical background as an oboist, pianist, percussionist (mallets), cellist, and dancer.
